I have an MBA, now what?
Dee Dee asked:
I live in New York City, I’ve recently earned an MBA from Ellis College of NYIT and have no idea what to do now. I’ve worked as an administrative assistant for close to 7 years and my resume reflects just that. I do PC repair as a hobby on the side which is also listed on my resume. I am skilled at computing. Hardware, software, etc. My resume also reflects this. How do I get a worthy job here in New York with this newly earned MBA?? Or at least where could I start at an entry-level position. I’ve tried temping agencies, posting my resume online, reading newspapers…everything!!! Please Help…..Does anyone know where applicants are being accepted now..

I would appreciate any feedback, Thank you all!!

Well, what compelled you to get the MBA in the first place? What were your plans then? need more info…
My suggestion may or may not be what your looking for. Try down a bit and deciding what you want in a job and how much money you’ll need to match your goals. Compouters are a BIG thing right now and they pay well so you could go that way, but that’s a big subject do you like working with computers, building them, updating them…? You’ll figure out what job you’d really like and be good at then when you send out an application you’ll sound really interested.
You should try to litterally go above what you think u can handel! hit company offices of johnson and johnson or try checking with car dealerships! better yet try companies you know might not excapt u! those are the companies thaat might pull you on board! Later on wen ur in the doors of a well known company…. shoot for executive possitions in smaller companies!
Use Monster or Careerbuilder.com they have on line consultants who can help steer you in the right direction.
You need to look for jobs that you have experience in– and apply one step up from that.
An online MBA from Ellis online helps, perhaps, but isn’t going to change your life drastically. Experience or networking could.
